Information about Bude

Bude is an extremely popular seaside resort. There is just so much to see and do!!!

Bude has its very own canal, this was dug in 1823 and used to carry beach sand and export local produce. Today the canal is used for pleasure boating and fishing.

Along with the Canal Bude also has several beautiful beaches; two of which, Crooklets and Summerleaze, are just a few minutes walk from the town and are made up of both sand and stone. When the tide is out you can walk between the two and Summerleaze also has its very own sea water swimming pool.

Just a mile or two away is the largest of Budes beaches, Widemouth Bay, offering a large car park just off the coastal road. The beach itself is largely made up of sand and can be described as a surfers' paradise.

Bude town centre has plenty to offer with a wide variety of National and Local shops, including half a dozen surf shops. There is also a Somerfield and Co-op in the town centre and just a mile away you can find a large Morrisons.

Bude town centre also has a wide range of Public Houses, Restaurants and Hotels.

The areas around Bude offer a wide range of things to do with a large number of Tourist Attractions. Bude itself has Splash which is a large indoor heated swimming pool with wave machine and slides. Right next door to Splash is Harlequins which has indoor bowling, go-karting and a large children's ball pool area.

Just outside of Bude is Killarney Springs, the Milky Way, Brocklands the big sheep and many more - all of which are great favourites for children.

Budehaven is the local secondary school located less than half a mile outside the town centre.
