The borough town of Dorset is Christchurch and is set on the English channel coast. The rivers Avon and Stour both enter the sea at Christchurch harbour. Originally a traditional market town, it is well known as being a place where everyone has a rather relaxed attitude and is an extremely popular place for tourists and those seeking retirement.
Christchurch has a rich smuggling history dating back to Saxon times. Today Christchurch still has its Saxon street layout with some picturesque walks to be had through narrow streets lined with beautiful thatched 14th century houses, restaurants, public houses and specialist shops.
