Cornwall is situated in the South-west of England. Cornwall is well known for many things including its magnificent coastlines, picturesque fishing villages, safe bathing, exciting surfing and skydiving. Not to mention fishing, mining, the countys' historical figures, Cornish Pasties, local Cider and farm made Ice Creams.
Cornwall is on the south-west peninsula of England with a coastline made up of resistant rocks that create the extremely impressive cliffs. The beaches varey enormously depending on which part of the Cornish coastline you visit. Beaches of fine golden sand include Bude, Perranporth, Polzeath or Newquay. Others such as Falmouth and Fowey are mainly shingle but also offer shelter from any prevailing winds.
Inland from the beautiful coast there is much more to see. Bodmin Moor for example offers wild ponies and you may even catch a glimpse of the infamous beast! The ancient Neolithic sites, Holy wells and picturesque walks not far from the Jamaica Inn hotel offer a step back in time. The inn has stood on Bodmin Moor since 1750, a legendary coach house used by smugglers and was written all about in a Daphne du Maurier novel of the same name.
After a brief visit to the inn, why not move on southwards to the likes of the Eden Project with extraordinary domes housing worldwide species of plant and animal. Or St.Michael's Mount - a beauitful tidal island, best in the evening for some stunning backdrops against the setting sun.
Cornwall has just one city Truro which is best known for its catherdral, cobbled streets and Georgian architecture. If these aren't reasons enough, go see the Royal Cornish Museum or the Victoria Gardens both walking distances from the city centre.
Cornwall is also just a helicopter ride or a ferry trip away from the Isles of Scilly.
